Analog computers and digital
computers: computers are mainly of two types analog and digital. Analog computer
processes the physical values (data) like temp, pressure etc and digital
computers mainly processes mainly numeric and alphanumeric data. Followings
are the main differences between these two types of computers.

Digital computer
|
1
|
Process data inputs of continuous form
Types like pressure, temperature etc.
|
Process data inputs of letters or
number types like transactions of day to day work of business.
|
2
|
Data forms a analog waveform
|
Data forms a digital waveform like
on/off or
High/low ( 0/1)
|
3
|
Used in engineering and scientific
Applications like controlling the
process
Of any plant
|
Most suitable for business
applications like transactions processing and MIS (management
Information systems)
|

|
These computers offer low cost
solutions
For physical data measurement and
Processing
|
These computers offers tremendous
amount of features and applications for business, entertainments and other
general purpose work.
|
5
|
These computers are less accurate and
provide very limited capacity for storage of data and information.
|
These computers highly accurate and
provide very high amount of data and information storage capacity.
